  3. Next to the domain in quarantine, click Manage

What does quarantine mean for a domain name?

When a domain name expires and is not renewed in time, it goes into quarantine. This means the domain name is temporarily unavailable for registration by others, but in the meantime it is also offline, so your website and email no longer work.

During this period you, as the previous owner/holder, can still get the domain name back, but this has to happen within a certain time (usually 40 days for .NL domains and other TLDs). After this period the domain name is released to everyone again and can be registered again.

How does getting your domain name out of quarantine work?

Follow these steps to get your domain name out of quarantine at Theory7:

1. Navigate to your domain name

In your customer panel, go to your domain names and click Manage next to the domain name that is in quarantine.

2. Navigate to Renew Domain

Now click Renew Domain on the left-hand side.

3. Take it out of quarantine

Next to the domain name that is in quarantine, click Add to Cart and then View Cart to complete the payment.

Always choose a payment method that reaches us instantly, such as iDeal, Bancontact, Paypal etc. That way you avoid the payment having to be processed first.

4. The quarantine is lifted

As soon as we have received the payment, your domain will be taken out of quarantine at the registry. Now it's a matter of waiting until the DNS has been processed so your website and email are reachable again, usually 2-4 hours.
