The owner of a domain name can be looked up via a WHOIS lookup. However, because of privacy rules such as GDPR, this information can sometimes be hidden. There is often a contact email address set as the registrant for each domain name. By sending an email to this address you can often get in touch with the owner of the domain name.

A .nl domain is ideal if you have a Dutch audience. .com is the most popular internationally, while .shop, .online and other extensions can be useful for specific purposes. The most chosen domain name extensions (TLDs) are .COM, .NET, .ORG, .NL, .BE, .EU. The price depends on the extension. A .nl domain or a .be domain is often around €5-€15 per year. At Theory7.net the .nl domain is the most sharply priced and you can register it for the first year for €0.45 per year. The .be domain name can be registered from as little as €0.85 per year. A WHOIS lookup provides detailed information about an already registered domain, such as the owner, registrar, registration date and expiry date. At Theory7 you can do both. You then have three options: (1) try an alternative extension (.com instead of .nl), (2) come up with a variation on the name, or (3) wait until the domain expires.
