Step by step: resetting your Spotify password

  1. Go to spotify.com/password-reset
  2. Enter your email address or username
  3. Click Send
  4. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for the reset email
  5. Click the link in the email (valid for 24 hours)
  6. Enter your new password (at least 8 characters)
  7. Click Set password
  8. Log in with your new password

Method 2: Through the Spotify app

  1. Open the Spotify app on your phone or computer
  2. Tap Log in
  3. Tap Forgot password?
  4. Enter your email address or username
  5. Tap Send
  6. Follow the link in the reset email
  7. Set your new password

Method 3: Through the login page

  1. Go to spotify.com and click Log in
  2. Click Forgot password? below the password field
  3. Enter your details and follow the instructions

Alternative recovery methods

Log in with Facebook

If you have linked your Spotify account to Facebook:

  1. Click Continue with Facebook on the login page
  2. Log in with your Facebook details
  3. You have instant access to your Spotify account
  4. Then go to Settings > Change password to set a Spotify password

Log in with Apple

If you created your account through Apple:

  1. Click Continue with Apple on the login page
  2. Use Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple password
  3. You are logged in right away

Log in with Google

If you have linked your account to Google:

  1. Click Continue with Google on the login page
  2. Select your Google account
  3. You have instant access to Spotify

No access to your recovery details?

Email address no longer available

  1. First try to recover your email account with your email provider
  2. If that doesn't work, contact Spotify Support
  3. They can help you link your account to a new email address

Reset email doesn't arrive

  1. Check your spam/junk folder
  2. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, as there is sometimes a delay
  3. Try again with the exact spelling of your email address
  4. Check that you are using the right email address (you may have more than one)

Forgot your username

  1. Try entering your email address instead of your username
  2. Check old emails from Spotify for your account details
  3. Contact Spotify Support

Security tips

  • Use a unique password that you don't use for other services
  • Create a strong password with at least 8 characters, including letters and numbers
  • Link your account to Facebook, Google or Apple for alternative ways to log in

No, all your playlists, saved music and listening history are kept.

Can I change my username?

No, you can't change your Spotify username. You can, however, change your display name in your profile settings.

What if someone has taken over my account?

Reset your password right away and go to spotify.com/account to sign out on all devices. Check that your email address and payment details are still correct.

Do I have to download my music again after a password reset?

Yes, offline downloads are removed when you log out. You will need to download the music again after logging in.

Can I merge multiple Spotify accounts?

No, Spotify does not offer a way to merge accounts. You have to choose which account you want to keep using.
