Step 2: give us your TransIP login details

After your order you receive a welcome email. Send us the following details:

  • Your TransIP account details (or FTP/SSH access to your current hosting)
  • Database login details (found in your TransIP control panel)
  • Which domains and email addresses need to be migrated

Step 5: switch the DNS (change nameservers)

  • Change only the nameservers: your domain stays with TransIP, but the nameservers point to Theory7. This is the fastest option.

After changing the DNS it takes 1-48 hours before the changes are applied worldwide. In practice this is usually sorted within 1-2 hours.

Step 6: update email clients

If you switch mail servers, you have to update the server settings in your email program (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird). We send you the new IMAP/SMTP settings by email.

Cancelling TransIP

Only cancel your TransIP hosting after you have confirmed that everything works correctly at Theory7. This way you always have a fallback if something goes wrong. The steps:

  1. Log in to your TransIP account
  2. Go to your hosting product
  3. Click "Cancel"
  4. Confirm the cancellation

Tip: keep your TransIP backups for another month after the migration, in case you need something.
